The football association has the statute of a non-profit organisation. It bears the name of 'Royal Belgian Football Association - Koninklijke Belgische Voetbalbond - Union Royale Belge des Sociétés de Football -Association', and vice versa, or 'RBFA-KBVB-URBSFA' in short. Its head offices are located in Brussels.
As a co-founding member of the International Football Association (FIFA), the RBFA is recognised by all foreign associations as the only association representing football in Belgium.
The RBFA consists of the effective members (clubs), joining members, convention members, affiliated and non-affiliated members.
The RBFA is led by an Executive Committee, chaired by the Association’s President. The Executive Committee consists of 20 members.
The day-to-day management is the responsibility of a Management Committee, headed by the Federal President and including the General Secretary, Treasurer and Technical Director. Click here for a presentation of the Management Committee.
The General Secretary heads the association’s administration. The 150 staff members are distributed between the association’s head office and the nine provinces. The Association can count on the contributions of specialised staff to carry out the very specific tasks in the interests of the clubs and affiliated members. The clubs can always call on these services and departments.
You can acquaint yourself with the various services and departments by means of the following brochure. (pdf - 480 KB)
The Federal Disciplinary Authority consists of a President and eight members. With regard to sporting matters, the Federal Disciplinary Authority is charged with investigation allegations of match rigging, doping, disruption of matches, transfer of a club’s property due to financial difficulties, among other things.
Regarding disciplinary matters, the Federal Disciplinary Authority proposes amicable settlements to professional clubs and players, for facts considered mild and, in all other cases, proposes sanctions to the competent bodies of the RBFA. The Federal Disciplinary Authority has the right to appeal or file for cassation. It may take measures on its own initiative or on the initiative of the Executive Committee or General Secretary. The legal files, disputes, international affairs and anything closely or remotely pertaining to legal matters, are managed by the Legal Department.
